LG CSA Bread Share: Slow Poke Sourdough VA
We have teamed up with our friends at Slow Poke Sourdough VA to bring you a unique bread share option this CSA season for just $10/week! For the bread share option, you can opt in to pick up some fresh-baked Slow Poke VA bread every week or every other week along with your regular CSA pick-up! Slow Poke Sourdough VA crafts their wood-fired sourdough breads and pastries with regionally-sourced, stone-milled grain.

Pain Au Levain - This is the classic sourdough hearth loaf. It is our most popular loaf and for good reason. It is made from a blend of stone-ground flour that includes whole wheat, sifted wheat, whole spelt, and whole rye flour. It has a really tender, airy crumb and is an excellent addition to any meal. All of the flour is fresh, stone-ground at Woodson's Mill by the team at Deep Roots Milling up in Nelson County and sourced regionally here in the Mid-Atlantic part of our country.
Polenta - A new addition to the team. This is a hefty sourdough hearth loaf that includes a polenta made from a variety of dent corn called Thompson's Prolific Yellow that was grown and harvested in 2023 on the farm at Great Day Garden's. The corn was milled into cornmeal and grits by the folks at Deep Roots. We make a polenta out of the grits that get incorporated into the dough. What you get here is an open and tender crumb with an added sweetness from the corn. Makes for a great grilled cheese sandwich and pairs exceptionally well with tomato based italian inspired dishes.
Pa de Pagès - An old classic. This is an extra large sourdough hearth loaf inspired by the farmer's bread of the Catalonia region of Spain. It is made from sifted, stone ground wheat flour and has a denser, chewier crumb than some of our other offerings. A great loaf of bread for a variety of spreads.
Rugbrød - A loaf made from whole rye flour, cracked rye, flax seeds, and sunflower seeds. A favorite amongst those that have gluten sensitivities, this bread is our densest and most sour loaf. Extremely nutritious and hearty.
Lunchbox Wheat - This is a new pan loaf we are offering that is ideal for the classic PB&J or packed lunch sandwich. A favorite for kid and it's our take on a more nutritious grocery store loaf of bread. It is a 100% sourdough loaf made with whole wheat, pure cane syrup, whole milk, and sunflower oil.
Rotating Specials - Apart from what is listed here, there will be a variety of rotating specials! All breads will be sourdough and made from 100% stone-ground wheat. Some of these options could include - Oat Levain, Ancient Grain (Spelt and Einkorn), Multigrain (made from 7 grains regional to the mid atlantic), Dinner Rolls, Baguettes, etc.
