Appalachian Harvest
We are proud to announce our partnership with another regional non-profit, Appalachian Sustainable Development, to secure food in Southwest and Central Virginia. the network of organic growers of Appalachian Harvest in Abingdon, Virginia will help us meet our goal of supplying 60 full shares or the equivalent of 120 half shares by July. our dream is to expand to 80 full shares or 160 half shares by the fall of 2008.

Camp Kum-Ba-Yah
Camp Kum-Ba-Yah is a 501 (c)(3) organization that operates a summer day camp program, a full year earth education program, a challenge course for community groups, and a variety of family recreational and educational programs. The summer camp serves 450 children between the ages of five and fifteen each summer. 40-50% of campers come from low-income families or at-risk situations and receive scholarships to attend.

Jubilee Center
Jubilee was founded in 1999 in response to the community's overwhelming need for a program that would target at-risk youth, leading them away from lives of crime and drugs, and, instead, offer them programs and services to help develop their academic and social skills. Every day Jubilee programs and volunteers are keeping young people off the streets, leading them into futures filled with hopes and goals. They are loved, tutored, mentored, challenged, and motivated as they strive to overcome many obstacles.

Bonners Program participants make a two-year commitment of service. The Bonners Program exemplifies the College’s commitment to engaging students in community work and fostering a requisite sense of responsibility and concern for others. The Leaders program also encourages non-profit entrepreneurship skills in students who demonstrate a commitment to connecting their service experiences to their future professional lives.

Smart Moves
Smart Moves, a community initiative coordinated by the Junior League of Lynchburg, works to fight childhood obesity and encourage family wellness throughout Central Virginia. The mission of the Smart Moves Family Wellness Campaign is to (1) increase public awareness of childhood obesity as an epidemic in Central Virginia and (2) identify and develop resources, strategies, and programs that will encourage community-wide healthy lifestyle changes for individuals, children and families.

USDA
The Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), part of the executive branch of the Federal Government.

CSREES unique mission is to advance knowledge for agriculture, the environment, human health and well-being, and communities by supporting research, education, and extension programs in the Land-Grant University System and other partner organizations. CSREES does not perform actual research, education, and extension but rather helps fund it at the state and local level and provides program leadership in these areas.

Lynchburg Community Trust
The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust provides for the administration and the investment of gifts and bequests for the benefit of the Cities of Lynchburg and Bedford and the Counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell. Needs served are broad in scope including human services to children, youth, the needy, and the elderly; education; health; the arts; and the humanities.

The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust exists to promote local philanthropy and to simplify the process of giving. The Trust receives and manages permanent gifts for perpetual benefit of the Greater Lynchburg area.
