| BIODIESEL | Lynchburg Grows is working with Randolph College to build community ties and protect the environment one gallon at a time. We hope to create a community-wide network to produce and distribute biodiesel while increasing knowledge about alternative energy technologies. Lynchburg Grows intends to use biodiesel for to heat our greenhouses |
| CHILDHOOD OBESITY INITIATIVE | Lynchburg Grows is partnering with the Junior League of Lynchburg to create a Public Relations-Marketing and Public Education campaign to inform Central Virginians about the epidemic of childhood obesity in the area, create programs encouraging individuals and families to make small steps to make their lifestyles healthier, create community gardens in low-income neighborhoods, and conduct research on the passive and active lifestyle changes that schoolchildren are making. |
| CAMP KUM-BA-YAH | Camp Kum-Ba-Yah, a summer day camp and a 501 (c)(3) organization, will develop an urban agriculture garden in which the campers will care for the garden and use produce harvested from the garden for daily cookouts to learn about good nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. |
