A blast from the past, this is one of five cypress greenhouses original to the property. This greenhouse is a top rehab-priority for Lynchburg Grows because it was the one of the most-severely damaged during the Winter 2010 snow deluge. Thankfully, we have been able to shore it up enough to really tackle a long-term fix in Fall 2010. However, LG co-founder Scott Lowman is currently using the front half of the greenhouse as a lab space to study switch grass and other alternative fuel production. Lowman is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Virginia Tech as part of the Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
